Lunch at Jamie's Italian by Jamie Oliver

Last Easter Sunday, my dad and I decided to celebrate my first year anniversary at work, and we did it by eating out somewhere nice. It was my own anniversary, so I was the one who picked the place. And I chose Jamie's Italian by Jamie Oliver.

Jamie's Italian is a casual Italian restaurant of the famous British chef, Jamie Oliver. I can say my dad and I are fans of Jamie Oliver. We like watching cooking shows, and we have been watching his cooking programmes like The Naked Chef and Jamie's 15-minute Meals.

Here in Singapore, Jamie's Italian already has two branches: the first one is at VivoCity, and the second one is at Forum Orchard. The one in Forum Orchard has just recently opened earlier this year, and that is where we went.

My dad and I on our way Orchard!

You can easily spot Jamie's Italian as it is outside the mall, and the restaurant has a pretty big sign, so there's really no chance that you will miss it.

You will notice that there is a chalkboard sign that lists the specials for the day. I believe they change their specials every day, and these are not available in their regular menu.

The place is not that big, it is actually kind of cramped. But I love its rustic yet cozy feel. The way the place was designed and decorated is really nice. I have read that the place gets packed on lunch and dinner times, especially Fridays and weekends. So, it's better to call and reserve tables in advance to avoid queues. Luckily, we reached around 11am, and we were one of their first customers for that day.

Onto the food... Their menu basically consists of mains, antipasti, pasta, and pizza -- typical Italian. We went there for lunch, so we ordered from their mains. As a chicken-lover myself, I obviously ordered a chicken dish. It is called Chicken Al Mattone (S$29). I really loved it; the chicken was tender, and it has a creamy wild mushroom sauce to go along with it.

My dad, on the other hand, ordered Rump Steak with skinny fries and rainbow coleslaw (S$32), and he had it medium rare. I tasted a small portion of it and it's really good, too! It doesn't need sauce any longer as the garlic and parsley butter on top is enough. The skinny fries, by the way, was not in the picture because I was the one who ate it! Haha!

Anyway, I had a pleasant time, and the food was really good, as expected, although a little pricey. I'm sure I'll be back soon, and I'll try their pizzas next time! :)
