Cebu Photo Diary: Cebu City

Last January 2015, my boyfriend and I went to Cebu City, the Queen City of the South, to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. This is our first out-of-town trip that's just us together, so this trip is very special for the both of us -- and that is why I decided to allot a post for it here in my blog. :-)

Our first day in Cebu was spent in Cebu City.

From the airport, we went straight to Zubuchon for lunch! Not a big fan of pork, but damn, Anthony Bourdain sure didn't lie. It's the best pig ever!

And the city tour begins... The surroundings of Cebu City looks like typical Manila. But unlike Manila, Cebu City is cleaner by manyfold. Commuting is not that hard, although some drivers do not speak Tagalog, but you can always seek help from other passengers for directions.

First up, Magellan's Cross. This cross is a very historic piece. For non-Filipino readers, the cross here was erected by Spanish and Portuguese explorers led by Ferdinand Magellan, who circumnavigated the world and reached, and eventually colonised the Philippines. This cross marked the spread of Roman Catholicism in the country. Anyway, when we went there, rehabilitation was on going so there were planks of wood supporting the cross.

Right beside Magellan's Cross is the Basilica del Sto. Niño, which is the oldest Roman Catholic church in the Philippines. When we went there, the annual Sinulog Festival has just ended so the banderitas and all other decorations were still present.

Next stop was the Fort San Pedro. Like the Fort Santiago in Manila, this was a military defence structure used in war.

After going around the city, we went next to Crown Regency Hotel to do the Sky Experience Adventure.

There are several activities to do that you can choose from. In our case, we did the Skywalk Extreme and Tower Zip. You can visit their website here to check the other activities and the rates. Everyone is required to wear a full-body suit and protective gears. Cool, no? And by the way, just a quick tip, it is better if you can reach Crown Regency before sunset, so you can experience the views both in daytime and nighttime. That's what we did!

And then, for dinner, and to cap off the day, as well, we went to the nearby food court called Larsian BBQ. It is a very popular place for grilled meat and seafood.
