Kuala Lumpur Weekend Trip with the Family

In February last year, my family and I went to Kuala Lumpur for a weekend trip. We explored the usual tourist spots since my mum and my sister, Jazz, are visiting for the first time. We stayed at Ascott Kuala Lumpur which was very convenient as it is right in the heart of the city.

On our first day, we visited the Petronas Twin Towers and we had engaged SweetEscape for a family photoshoot. When we travel as family and as per my mum's request, we always allot time for photoshoots and using the photos, we create a travel photo book of the trip. It's a nice remembrance to have and also a nice coffee table book in my mum's living room!

Here are some of our photos. I was the one who insisted we wear colour-coordinated outfits, and I think it was a good idea, right? Haha.

After the photoshoot, we continued exploring the other parts of the city -- we went to KLCC mall, Merdeka Square, and KL City Gallery. In the evening, we had dinner at Jalan Alor Street Market.

Our agenda for our second day was to visit KL Tower and Chinatown.

At the KL Tower, the last day of the KL Tower International Jump Malaysia was happening. We were able to see jumpers jumping from the top of the tower and doing stunts while on the sky. It was quite fascinating to watch.

In the evening, we had dinner reservation at THIRTY8 at the Grand Hyatt. The food was delicious and the view of the Petronas towers was magnificent.

On our last day, we were supposed to visit Batu Caves in the morning. But that day was a public holiday because of the Hindu festival called Thaipusam. We checked the news and thousands of devotees were expected to head to Batu Caves since it was the first time they were able to celebrate after the pandemic. We did not want to risk getting stranded so we ditched the plan to visit.

We changed our plans and decided to go temple hopping -- we visited Thean Hou Temple and the National Mosque of Malaysia.

Before we checked out from the hotel, my mum, sisters and I decided to swim at the hotel's pool. Meanwhile, my dad rested, and my husband went to a mall to go shopping.

And that was it! We flew back to Singapore in the evening. It was quick but a nice trip, nonetheless.

Hopefully this year, we can travel again as a family! 😁
